Singapore’s national flower, the Vanda (Miss Joaquim) a hybrid orchid which represents Singapore in a flower, in this case, an orchid. Its four primary flower petals represents Singapore’s four main ethnic groups: Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian. Along with the two supporting petals which represents sharing of glory and pain.
The Vanda has a unique trait of blooming throughout the year, where one flower perishes and falls, and another will grow out in the same spot, that symbolizes Singapore’s never ending hope and renewal of the future.
